Looks great but there were some surmountable challenges in the assembly process

Four star rating as once assembled it looks very nice (five stars) but assembly was a challenge (two stars). There are some who report no problems putting the unit together. I wish that had been the case for me. There were minor annoyances such as the sticker on each pane of glass that is blocked by a wood slat (hint, heat one side with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive and then lift it off the glass, repeat on the other side, and then heat the part hidden by the slat from behind the glass / then you should be able to pull the sticker out from behind the slat with only nominal glue sludge left behind); the large annoying sticker inside the case (again, a hair dryer helps) as well as the extra holes for shelf supports that dont have corresponding holes on the opposite side, among others. But what made this a real pain in the neck for me was that the guide holes (not pilot holes, more like divots in the finish) indicating where the hinge screws should be installed, as well as those for the magnetic catches, were slightly off from where they should have been. That probably isnt the case with most units, but it was absolutely the case with the one I purchased. I installed the hinge screws in exactly the locations indicated by the manufacturer, but the doors would not function. The process actually scuffed up the cabinet a bit. As the unit is made from the softest wood I have ever encountered and as the marking error was slight, I realized that just removing the doors and reinstalling them in the right locations would almost certainly resulted in the failure of the screws attaching the door hinges to the cabinet. To remedy this problem, I drilled holes in each location previously marked by the manufacturer (careful not to drill all the way through) and glued dowels in each hole. Once the glue dried, I cut the dowels flush with the side of the case (use a flush cut saw or you will destroy the finish) and then reinstalled the doors. The dowels compensated for the soft wood and the previous holes, allowing me to reinstall the hinges in the right place. I used a little dark varnish to cover the dowels (not really necessary as they were covered by the hinges) and to clean up scuffs made during the assembly process. The doors now work fine and I suspect will continue to do so. The cabinet really looks great assembled, and while building the unit wasnt a nightmare, it was harder than it had to be. Clearly with all of the reviews saying installation is easy, the problems I encountered are not universal. But there are a lot of reviewers who said assembly was a bit challenging, so keep that in mind. I am experienced at putting these kit pieces together (albeit not this exact unit or units from this manufacturer), and I have a good bit of woodworking experience, but it was still a challenge to me because of what I think was just sloppy quality control on my unit. All in all I am happy I bought this unit. There was a little pain the process, but it looks very nice and will meet my needs (holding towels in the bathroom) quite well. Lovely for the price
