Ok - first off it didn’t reach 12 inches but did get up to 11 - 11 1/2. And for the price - worth it ! Roughly $300 and change.
I did buy the following to layer on top of this mattress immediately after and prior to unpacking… I let it rise also instead of 48 hours about 36 hours.

I also bought from Target: Pure White Sheet Set, 100% Extra Long Staple, 500 Thread Count Sateen Weave, 4 Piece Set, California Design Den
NOW there are people who complain about this mattress being too hard (hence my efforts I’m 5’ 1 and weigh 106 (hubby is 5’ 10 and 170). Therefore I like a softer mattress almost by default due to weight. SECONDLY people complain about the 4 inch gel topper by LINENSPA being too soft. I get it - but here’s the deal, if you put on the EASELAND mattress pad over this - it stops the sinking in but gives you all that plushness! this mattress with this gel topper AFTER INFLATING IT YOUR REQUIRED TIME (for both items I did 36 hours mattress and 24 hours gel topper). Then - put on the big white thick easeland mattress pad, and your brand new sheets (nope I did not wash them as directed first). Hubby did complain mattress was super thick joking he’d need a step ladder to get in. These sheets I put on here Will fit this thickness… and viola! Hubby was OUT in less than 5 minutes dead silent! And has never complained after the fact even said his sciatic quit bothering him suddenly. He refused to admit it was the mattress AND that’s ok! Also cat approved - moved in and sleeps on the bed with us - ALWAYS
NOW - I love this thing! And get this, I was sleeping on a tempurpedic temporarily in the other room and MUCH prefer this one-
